Personal Training/Fitness Components

The following components will be considered and progressively implemented in a safe and proper training program for each client.

Fitness Assessment:  Client will perform physical testing in order to provide trainer with a basis for making decisions for exercise selection.  This will be an ideal time to evaluate client goals and needs.

Warm Up:  Trainer will instruct client in proper technique, including 5-10 minutes with light cardio training, Self Myofascial Release and active range-of-motion exercise.  Once learned, client may opt to perform warm-up before each training session.  If client is not properly warmed up, time will be taken during session to prevent injury and early fatigue during training sessions.

Core Work:  More important than displaying a “six-pack”, developing a strong core within the deep musculature of the trunk and attached limbs is essential for proper form, efficient movement and injury prevention.

Balance:  Often taken for granted, balance is a key component of any movement or activity.  Balance work stimulates minute muscles and nerves within the body and is essential in keeping joints stable.

Cardio Respiratory Training:  Not only helpful with warm up and cool down, but also important for maintaining general physical and psychological/emotional health.  The key is to find a method that is fun for the client.

Flexibility Training:  This aspect of the training program is essential for decreasing muscle imbalances, joint dysfunction and injury and is best performed at the end of a cool down period.

Reactive and Speed, Agility and Quickness Training:  Depending on fitness level and goals of client, these may be implemented for fun, as well as to achieve maximal power, reaction, speed and coordination.

Resistance Training:  In order to implement a safe, effective and appropriate training program, the client’s goals, fitness and needs will be considered and a program  designed to take the client progressively through a system for the purposes of altering body composition, strength, endurance and metabolic and cardiovascular efficiency.
